In one of his last actions as outgoing Mayor of Marlborough, Councillor Graham Francis was delighted to show off the new fingerposts that have been placed in the George Lane car park and on the High Street opposite Dash.
The project has been twelve months in the planning, but has come into fruition thanks to a partnership between Marlborough Town Council and Wiltshire County Council's Highway's Department, although entirely funded by Marlborough Town Council. The fingerposts were created by Broxap Ltd and are the same style as the bollards placed next to the crossing points in the High Street and the Town Hall. The posts are cast iron with aluminium fingers and have been coated with a durable seal to ensure that rust will not be a problem. The new posts are a sign (excuse the pun) to visitors to Marlborough that we are proud of our Town and all of its facilities, whereas in the past, many tourists may not have been aware of such delights hidden around the next corner. |
