Each year the Town Council must budget for the year ahead and apply to Kennet District Council for a payment to cover the difference between the projected income and expenditure. This is called the Precept, and it is made up from the money collected by Kennet District Council from your Council Tax and paid in two instalments during the financial year. The Finance and General Purposes Committee considers all expenditure and allocations of funds from the Town Council’s accounts and recommends this expenditure to the Full Town Council.
The Accounts section of the website explains Marlborough Town Council’s total expenditure and precept for the Municipal Year 2005/2006 and the budgeted expenditure and precept for 2006/2007.
